It is obvious that the Florida legislature mounted a multi threaded attack on reproductive rights this week.
It started by the passing of legislation requiring an ultrasound prior to an abortion and coupled to more egregious terms.
Terms that are simply rejected by the vast majority of Americans, and over 99% of Nobel prize winners.
That is defining human sentient life equivalent to a full experienced adult at the moment of the meeting of the one cell sperm and the one cell egg whence they fuse and form one slight larger one cell. Thus a women who was desirous of an abortion must then pay for an ultrasound procedure and mandated to view the ultrasound image. This would be done before having the abortion, again mandated by the bill passed by the House chiefly divided in a partisan fashion.
The puritanicals and misogynists are truly still lurking among us in droves. Must they die of old age until the generation of rational thinking adults are able to work their way through the political quagmire?
Oddly also the vast majority of conservatives supprting the measure were older men greyed from age, apparently not from wisdom or a connection to the community.
The Republican-led chamber also endorsed a “fetal homicide” bill that would create a separate murder charge for anyone who caused a pregnancy to be terminated through an act of violence against a pregnant woman.
This absurdity missed the slew of reasons women may opt for an abortion for very reasonablke reasons, that well over 95% of Americans support. A very limited example include, women with cancer, women with pregnancies in their tubes, women with life threatening heart anomalies (and all other threats to their life) that carry with them a near certain death sentance if they are to remain pregnant through their term of 40 weeks.
This is well documented in the peir reviewed medical literatue, and is not disouted among proffesionals of either side of the issue to any measurable degree. The list goes on and on.
Many of these situations the Abortion Pill could easily solve the end of the pregnancy and save the mother’s life. There are numerous places a women in need of abortion may find an office that perform Abortions safely, securely, privately with respect and confidentiality.
Democrats argued the abortion bill and it’s terms were simply a government invasion into an obvious private health matter. The House’s ultrasound mandate (HB257) requires women who desire abortion to pay for the scans without any assistance, this is a major burden the government would be placing among lower socioeconomic women.
Costs for an ultrasound have great variance and are often a few hundred dollars, stated by an expert testimonial. The measures once again, are micromanaging the method by which a doctor takes care of their patient without regard to the doctor’s experience or training.
Doctors practice differently because of a number of reasons. The legislature rarely attempts to micromangae doctor methods of practice except when dealing with abortion care. The well known safest procedure done in the world, when it is legal. When it is illegal, women still get abortion, but because of the illegality have to have them performed in areas that are often dangerous and simply just a few decades hospital wards were willed to the brim with women suffering, dying, and losing wombs to complication because abortion was illegal. Once again this another fact that is not disputed.
“Are you sure you want to do that?” said House Democratic Leader Dan Gelber, of Miami Beach. “Just to constantly second-guess and challenge a woman who makes what I imagine is one of the hardest and most difficult decisions a person has to make. In that sense, it’s an offensive bill.”
If the “fetal homicide” bill passed the Senate and became law, anyone who caused a pregnancy to be terminated by assaulting or killing a woman could be prosecuted for murdering the “unborn child” — even if they didn’t know the woman was pregnant. The bill also would apply to drunken drivers, who could be charged with vehicular homicide for causing a pregnancy to be terminated in a car accident.
“It elevates a fetus and an egg, frankly, to the status of an adult person,” said Adrienne Kimmell, executive director of Florida’s Planned Parenthood affiliates. “The purpose of this bill is to create tension with Roe vs. Wade. It’s a chipping-away strategy we’ve seen for years now.”
In this opinion, the imbicilic articulation from the Bill’s sponsor Rep. Ralph Poppell, stated that a fetal homicide bill is an attempt to “curb crime and save lives.”
Clearly it is just another attempt to harm women and march the limitations of reproductive, and private personal matters into the hands of those elite that show no regard or connection to the intelligent women who are quite capable of making decisions and managing their own bodies without a strange antagonistic man’s interference and intrusion.

Well done, clearly another attempt to take the rights of women away, and relegate them to the pastures of subordination. Not much diffferent than our hominid ancestors and the countries of the present world that consider women nothing more than another peice of property.

Once again women are harmed by the majority of men in the legislature who clearly have not idea what is going on in the world of reproduction and the complex issues that are associated with it. Why do they not take a simple freshman level science coarse? It would benefit them and us!
I am so disgusted, it is hard to maintain a gracious composure to those offensive individuals who want to legislate my body. This is a firestorm of a bill.
Hopefully the senate counterparts cannot be as stupid. I can only pray.

The consistent attacks from conservatives against the sacred privacy of women’s bodies will and cannot be ignored.
The lack of complete empathy from our conservative friends will not be ignored on this side of the voting isle as well as they all succumb to losses in their next bids for office. It saddens me as they older conservatives like T Roosevelt stood for conservation a noble cause and the present conservatives appear to have a genuine desire to protect us from threats abroad.
However, first and foremost you must protect your people from the intrusions of government as framed wisely be the originators of much of the present state of laws outlined nearly 250 years ago.
Conservatives, please educate yourselves, so few of you know what a cell is, or have the simplest knowledge of basic science. Recent polls revealed the incredible lack of knowledge of conservative legislators. It was scary!
It is an obligation of oath to protect out wives, daughters, and all women who are our equals from government tyranny. This is not a third world country where women are treated like cattle, or sold to husbands. This is America, let remember that and behave that way!

The misogynists of the legislature never fail to remind me how they want laws to de-evolve back to the stone age, rather than remain as pillars to add more powerful and progressive legislation – not rip down the edifice of intelligent thoughtfulness and destroy the foundation of human liberties, equality and fairness.

God forbid any woman be faced with the reality that there is a living, breathing, moving human being within her womb before she chooses to kill him/her. If the “cells” inside your womb are so easily disposable, why would you be afraid to look at them before you have them sucked out of your body and thrown into the trash? If you truly believe that you have an inalienable right to dispose of such cells, what’s the harm in looking them in the eye before you do so? Is it because that blob of tissue actually has eyes?
I recommend watching “The Silent Scream,” wherein you can witness, via ultrasound, the reality of what takes place within a woman’s womb when she undergoes an abortion.
Then tell me, if I, as a woman, have an inalienable right to decide whether I bring a child into the world or have him/her killed and thrown into the trash, why doesn’t my right continue to supercede my child’s right to life after he/she is born? What is the difference between a child in utero and a child who’s exited the womb?

Reality check. Abortion destroys unborn human life, period. Some fetuses are more developed than others when aborted. New human life begins at conception with a unique set of chromosones from the mother and father.
Biology is a beautiful scientific truth.
It can’t be denied.
The brutal dismemberment of a human fetus is sick especially for those torn apart in the 2nd semester after 20 weeks.
No doubt the fetus can feel the pain with this inhumane procedure.

Unborn child is a fetus. A born child is a neonate.
A pregnant woman seeing her ultrasound and keeeps her pregnancy says proudly when showing the photo says “look at my baby”. She doesn’t say “Look at my fetus”.

Courts have supported biological mother’s rights over surrogate mother’s rights when it comes to abortion so obviously what we are talking about here is not a woman’s jurisdiction over what she does with her body, but what she does with her child. Therefore, I would ask those of you supporting abortion to come right out and admit that you think a woman has the right to kill her child. I hate how so many abortion rights people hide behind words like fetus, or argue points about when consciousness begin. Left alone the child will develop, be born, and be a person, right?! So the question of what develops and when is completely moot. If you are going so far as to say a woman can kill her child then how about a father? You are for equality correct? And how about the recent case of Caylee, whose mother is being sent to prison for her murder. Gee, too bad she didn’t kill her daughter earlier, she’d be scot free right now.
By the way, I’m not a Christian or a man, but an ex-Abortion rights person who finally let go and realized that unborn or born, a child is a child and inconvience is no reason to kill.

When I was 20, my girlfriend got pregnant. I have to admit, I was pro-abortion(even after being raised Catholic) for about 3 days because I was thinking about myself and what I wanted.
Fast forward 15 years later and that blob of tissue just happened to form into a beautiful, 15-year old girl. I shudder to think what would’ve happened if I let my selfishness form my ultimate decision.
That blob of tissue would have never been born.

First, what an overinflated, irrational ego for claiming to know what “God” wants or does not want.
Second, if “biology is a beautiful scientific truth,” just as equally the larger laws of the universe, the laws of physics, undeniably state that energy cannot be created or destroyed.
Logically, it follows that atoms are held together and made up of energy; those atoms make up the chemicals that form the mass of cells we call an embryo.
Thus, it is reasonable to deduce that the energy is, at the point of an abortion, transformed from cellular, chemical energy in to another form that will present itself in the world at another time.
Lastly, terminating an embryo that senses pain is a hard choice, but we, as proud human beings, make hard choices to kill people in much more painful ways for reasons that are often illogical, trivial and mean-spirited. Thus, in the scheme of evils performed by human-kind, abortion is near the bottom of the list.

I was 17 when i got pregnant with my first child. I was soo scared, the father of my child told me flat out, How about an abortion? He did’nt want the burden of having to care for a child. He want’ed to be free of this burden thats gonna cost too much money and take too much of his time. Well I don’t consider myself a hero, but really i was. I decided (without having to even think about it) that i would raise this baby by myself, whatever it took. That baby today is 14. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, almost as tall as me. He loves skateboarding, hanging with his friends, and has the most loving heart. He’s even been in alot of trouble, but thats ok i’m here to help him get through it the best i can, i mean who am i to judge. These are things i would have never knew if i would have listened to his father and people telling me its not a baby, its just a blob of tissue or whatever scientfic name you wanna give it. It was a baby. The baby i got to watch grow and become the person he is today.

You anti-lifers act as though pregnancy was a mysterious disease you just happened to “catch” and that’s why you need the option to get rid of it.
You act as though you had no choice (there’s that word again) in conceiving a child. How can you keep spewing just idiotic claims of needing reproductive freedom. You already have reproductive freedom! Take reliable birth control, insist on condoms, or keep your legs shut. My God it actually IS that easy!
Typical libs — nothing is ever your own fault or responsibility.

Everybody has their own story and makes their own choices.
Laurie, no one has claimed that the situation they were in was not their own fault or responsibility. That’s the whole point. As a responsible human being, if you get pregnant, it is your responsibility to make a responsible choice. If keeping that child will put you, your partner and the child in a bad situation, then keeping that child is not a responsible choice. You have to look at the bigger picture. Again, just because that particular life will not ever occur if you terminate, that “life” is not lost, just shows up in another way another time. Go read up on some Newtonian physics (the laws of thermodynamics) if you’re unsure about this.
There are two sides to this coin: typical republican – making false assumptions of the worst possible nature and insulting others to try to win an argument instead of intelligently discussing your opinions and ideas.

As an aside, people should really stop calling themselves “pro-life.” This is a grossly misleading title.
You all have, do and will continue to support the taking of lives when it serves a greater good or purpose. You support and have allied yourself to the fact, as do I as a “pro-choic-er,” that people may need to be killed and lives may need to be lost or sacrificed for the greater good, e.g. wars.
People who make the choice to terminate their pregnancy are making the same exact choice, just on a personal level. They are making a hard choice for the greater good of the world, human kind and that potential human’s life.
