The “morning after pill,” which is also referred to as “emergency contraception,” can prevent women from getting pregnant after they have had sex. Actually, the term “morning after pill” is a misnomer because women actually have up to 120 hours (five days) after sex to take the pills and still prevent pregnancy. In essence, when you use the morning after pill you are using the same hormones found in regular daily oral contraceptive pills
There are a number of different brands of morning after pills so you should consult your Ob-Gyn to decide which one is right for you. Interestingly, some people get confused and think that the morning after pill is the same as “the abortion pill.” It is not the same. The morning after pill is used to prevent pregnancy before it begins, and works primarily or perhaps exclusively by delaying or inhibiting ovulation – it does not cause an abortion.
Meanwhile, two years ago the FDA approved “Plan B,” a form of the morning after pill, for over the counter access by women 17 years of age and older. Recently, the drug maker announced it is asking the FDA to lift the age restrictions on the morning after pill altogether. The FDA is expected to review the proposal over the next year.

I always keep some Morning After Pills in my closet. Unfortunately, the morning after pill doesn’t always allow the fertilized egg to be aborted.

I have observed that of all forms of isnruance, health care isnruance is the most dubious because of the turmoil between the isnruance policies company’s duty to remain making money and the consumer’s need to have isnruance coverage. The pro-life movement says it does but…the morning after pill is a high dosage of the actual birth control pill, which can be taken up to 72 hours after intercourse, to PREVENT pregnancy. There aren’t any known cases for this to cause a woman to miscarry if she already is pregnant and it is highly effective.

The literature is quite clear on The Morning After Pill.
Occasionally it will cause an abortion. There is no doubt.
It would be a very early abortion induced by the morning after pill, but it clearly happens sometimes.
The Morning After Pill is still a great intervention and no one should think less of it because of this.

The Morning After Pill should be taken by women at risk of pregnancy.
During menstruation, a women cannot get pregnant, so one would not take the morning after pill then? Right?
You can only get pregnant after the women releases an egg. So if you have sex around that time it can happen within the day. The egg dies shortly after, and you do not need the morning after pill.

The situation of the Morning After Pill in Italy (be prepared to scream – add to that that we are allowed to have terminations ONLY withing 12wks and and the first 2 weeks DO COUNT). You can only have a termination in a hospital, there are no private clinics, the abortionist doctor gets in only once a month, there are waiting lists and limited openings per day.
It is legal to be a conscience objector for the morning after pill, and IT happens very often. You cannot report the doctor if they refuse a prescription. Numbers say that 70% of gynecologists are conscience objectors. You need a prescription. At any age. It’s NEVER over the counter.
You can either get a prescription from your family doctor or going to a hospital. If you can’t go to your family doctor because it’s over the week-end, for example, or you are studying in another town from where you actually live, and you don’t have your doctor there…the troubles begin, because you need to go to the hospital. We have only the morning after pill, not the “after 5 days pill”. The success rate is 100% if you take it in the first 12 hours after intercourse. It sinks down to 98% if you take it in the 24 following hours. You can take it maximum within 72 hours to have some sort of protection.
It IS freakkin’ scary. And the people that you find are NOT helpful, nor kind, nor neutral. You get judged. “See? If you had taken a pill a day, you wouldn’t need this one, I’m not going to give it to you”. Everybody’s hands are tied. Bloody Awful Bigots Catholics.
