Abortion Law
Many years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court declared that unmarried people were actually allowed to use birth control. Can you believe it! Yes, on March 22, 1972 the Court confirmed this outlandish notion in Baird v. Eisenstadt – a case that was seen as the precursor to Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion just a year later.
And now it’s fifty years later. Since that decision men have walked on the moon, the computer was invented, it was discovered that there are homosexuals in our community, we started drinking non-fat milk and the Red Sox finally won a World Series. And, amidst all of this progress, today the Republican candidates for President are talking about birth control again. Talk about going Back to the Future.
Abortion
Now, to be fair I have yet to find any of the candidates declare outright that they would “ban birth control,” although that is what many Democrats and left-leaning pundits are suggesting. But where Rick Santorum, et al made a mistake is that they just started talking about birth control in the context of the Obama health care bill – and their opponents jumped all over it.
Santorum has acknowledged that he and his wife do not use birth control, hence his seven kids. Good little Catholic he. And ole Mitt Romney has said, well, I haven’t checked today to see what he said last night. I’ll get back to ya on that one. But the fact that they are even talking about this issue boggles my mind, especially in light of the fact that 95% of the Catholics in this country use birth control anyway – the Pope be damned.

But there is a method to their madness. They are talking about this issue and religion in general because, to get the Republican nomination, they need to go as far right as possible. I mean, to the right of Genghis Khan. You’ve heard the speeches: “I am a true conservative in this race, I’ve always been a true conservative, I wear conservative shoes and use conservative toothpaste.” And, early on, they learned that if they just mentioned birth control and religion and Obama’s secret plan to deport every Catholic, the right wingers at the rallies sucked it up big time. Hey, this is a good stuff, I gotta keep this up!
It’s gotten so crazy that a few days ago Ron Paul made headlines in certain media when he announced that, when he was a practicing Ob-Gyn, he actually – I hope you’re sitting down – PRESCRIBED birth control. OMG! A Republican running for President actually participated in this pernicious practice (one, by the way, that would reduce the number of abortions). Lynch him, cried the Tea Partyers!
Of course, the good news is that all of this talk about birth control – in any context – is welcome news to the Obama gang. They’re just sitting back and having a hell of a good laugh. And I’ll betcha anything that they got the commercials in the can right now warning women that the nominee is gonna take away their pills. The good news is that Republicans talking about that nasty little pill may win them the nomination, but it will lose them the election. Keep it up, boys.

totally agree, Amy. Unless, of course, if the economy really tanks again, then it’s wide open. I just can’t figure out who the consultants are who are advising the GOP to talk about this issue 🙂

I changed the name of the newsletter again because at this point even “pro-choice” folks know abortion is murder and not even proifers know “contraception” is too – and causes hundreds of times the number of deaths, and leads directly to the killing of the older people.
Embryocide led to feticide, which led to infanticide (something Obama supported, by the way), which is leading to euthanasia (senicide) and will soon lead to other forms of legal homocide — uxoricide, parricide, modernicide, ambicide, sorocide, etc.
When the stronger are permitted to kill the weaker because they are Irish, or Africans, or Jews, or young, or old, or sick, or of a different religion, then civilians have turned into barbarians. We are now a nation of barbarians.
My favorite pro-death writer, Pat Richards of the abortion.ws blog, knows this too. Of course Pat tells himself he can’t figure out why some politicians like Santorum are concerned about it: “But the fact that they are even talking about this issue boggles my mind, especially in light of the fact that 95% of the Catholics in this country use birth control anyway – the Pope be damned.”
Sure Pat’s right, and that’s why we Catholics are mostly to blame for this on-going modern horror.

Some simple examples:
1) The Plagues
2) The Witch Burnings
3) The Inquisitions (there were many,of different types, and different countries led by the Vatican and Holy See, not just one)
4) Massive Anti Semitism even in Pre WWII America
5) Support for slavery
6) The Crusades
7) The treatment (Slaughter, including biological warfare) of indigenous MesoAmericans
8) Support for segregation laws
9) The Present Pope was a Nazi and has been disingenuous about his past
10) Their present day Canonical decrees against women, and other misogynistic beliefs
11) The belief that others of Non Catholic belief will go to Hell for Eternity
12) Present day Wars on women and contraception.
Shall I go on, or is that enough?

I think it is a stretch to say, for example. that Catholics promote racism as evidenced by the “present day wars on women and contraception.” Also, dont see how the current pope being a former nazi “promotes” racism. Yes, they did support segregation laws (when everyone else in this country was doing the same) but I think some of your examples are a big stretch…Indeed, give me ONE solid example that is occuring today where the church is promoting racism…

In the Present day the Catholic Institution is mostly focused on Misogyny. At different periods in their millennial history they have focused on the different Evils of Bigotry, Racism, and Misogyny.
Now they even seem to support Theocracy building in America. Example – not wanting Kerry to receive communion for his beliefs. Or disallowing speakers at college commencements that have slight teachings with Church doctrine. The Catholic Institution has never had a reasonable period of time when it was not engaged in some of the major evils that plague society, although, agreeably the type of evil morphs with the generation.
Do you disagree they have a fairly Misogynistic stance in this very resent day?

The Catholics as an institution have had a pretty horrendous record over time.
If people do not want to be associated with the horrors of the Catholic Church they should choose a less murderous institution.
Just like if you want to be a Nazi today, you are not going to have a lot of people viewing you favorably.
The Catholic Church did almost nothing as Part of the Axis of Evil in WWII. Pope Pius was an absolute disgrace as a human being.

I agree,
Catholics were not purely unique in their bigotry and hate crimes.
But they had a hierarchy that rivaled no other.
And it was a matter of decree.
Look at the Antisemitism in the multiple New Testament Gospels.
Taken on their word literally by the Pope.

Historically the Zionists worked very hard.
Israel was not formed till 1948, so as an entity it did not exist during WWII.
They had very little resources anyway, as they were under constant attack, a few hundred thousand Jews, surrounded by a Billion Muslims.
Many Muslims, to this very day, still want the complete annihilation of Israel.
Israel the most democratic country in the middle east by leaps and bounds.
With a world of Anti Semitism, what pragmatically could they do while in the midst of wars inflicted on Israel on all fronts, and no ability to project military power.
The horrific slaughter of innocent Jews by terrorists continues at this very moment, and for over 5,000 years, and over a millennium by Christians.
