Briefly, my wife and i had the misfortune of my vasectomy failing. For years it worked and then all of a sudden my wife got pregnant. Any way, we went to our doctor, OBGYN who my wife has seen for >15 years, and she refused to offer her an abortion, let alone councel her on that option. My wife has very brittle diabetes and a heart ailment, which they say would give her a > 30% chance of dying inpregnancy, and the child would have (because of the suger problems) would have a >20% chance of having some abnormality. Plus, I am nearly 60 and we both are ready to retire adn did not want to have a baby. So we typed in http://www.Abortion.com and found a doctor, who was very kind and considerate. They encouraged us to consider adoption, and compared to the OBGYN (they were an OBGYN also) they were very fair in there balance of the information, almost leaning to far against abortion, and that is what we wanted!!! So they offered my wife a number of choices, one of them being the abortion pill, ru486. She tried this and it was a very mild experience, like a very bad period( althogh we were told most women have a little more discomfort) and it was simply taken care of, and we are on with our lives again. My wife is going to use an IUD for the next few years until she reaches menopause, just to be safe. I am very thankful to the kind doctors who couceled us on abortion. We will never go back to the OBGYN who we trusted for so many years and then abandoned us when we needed her most. I thought that to be horrible behaviour. If she cannot take care of women why is she an OBGYN? Anyway, thats my story, thank you all for sharing yours.

On Nov.10.2007 I took tthe pill and I had all cramps and bleeding. But I am that 1%that it did not work now I have to go through the surgery.
This is very ruff on me I was told it was the best way because I was so early. But no all I want to do is cry again I thought iI was done with it. Now I am going throw hell again.

Thank you I found abortion.com to be a useful and valuable resource. My wife called one of the office their just to get information on the morning after pill, and I cannot tell you how nice and focused on neutrality they were as opposed to when she called ” a pregnancy center, where they told her only misinformation on this basically simple intervention which makes a big difference.

Thank you all for your comments, they help a lot. I have to say, I chose to use the pill and the doctor gave me some powerful pain meds to take right before the pill, but the pain I felt was excrutiating. It was like the unimaginable cramp. Childbirth was faster and easier for me. I am glad to hear that this process was easier for some other women, but I had to share my experience too. I hope we are not faced with these hard choices more than too many times.

I just took the abortion pill last night. I would STRONGLY suggest using the surgical option. The pill was horrible and I feel that I was misinformed of the side effects. I was told I would have cramps similar to a period but they were so bad I was laying on the bathroom floor crying. I also threw up 3 times and couldnt stop shaking I felt so cold. It lasted for hours literally. Im not sure if this happens to everyone but my best friend and I took it at the same time so we could go through it together and she had the exact same smyptoms. The surgical only lasts 5 minutes and your supervised by doctors. Choose the method wisely if you choose to do this.
