So what was the hullabaloo all about?
I mean, did anyone even see that “pro-life” commercial that aired during the Super Bowl?
For weeks, the condemnations were flying, CBS was attacked, there were accusations of unfair treatment, national editorials, etc., etc. For what? For that dumb little commercial that aired once in the first quarter?
It happened all so fast. I was getting a bowl of (non-buttered) popcorn when I saw Tim Tebow, the University of Florida quarterback who had caused all the commotion. As far as I could tell, the commercial didn’t even mention abortion! All I could see was Tebow and his lovely mom. I thought I heard him (or her) say something about “life.”
This whole controversy started when the national pro-choice groups cried “foul” without even seeing the commercial. I gotta be honest – I grow weary of the national groups that represent both sides of the abortion issue. They have absolutely nothing to do except to sling arrows at each other through the media. The scream and yell and, when they are inevitably “attacked,” they send out a fundraising letter asking their supporters to help “defend us from these pernicious attacks” Then the money rolls in and they put probably 80 percent of what they raised back into the fundraising machine.
For me, I “choose” to admire those in the trenches. That means the doctors and clinic staff who help thousands of women every day. And, yes, it means those true pro-lifers who put their money where their mouth is, i.e., those who actually adopt children or help a woman who has decided to have their baby. There are well intentioned people on both sides of this contentious issue. They are the ones to be congratulated.
As for the national groups, put a sock in it.

Pat, the so-called “pro-life” crowd has so conditioned the public that every time there is a “Race for Life” or a “Walk for Life,” it is assumed by the public that it is a so-called “pro-life” event, not (as more accurately it is) a breast cancer research fundraiser or publicity for the local humane society. Mrs. Tebow’s ad reinforced the “pro-life” struggle to keep so-called “pro-lifers” identified with beauty, truth, goodness and the American way of life. Had she instead emphasized the risk she was putting herself at– death, no less– rather than the fact that the doctors offered the alternative of an abortion, the message would have had quite a different coloration. ANYTIME you mention the word abortion in conjunction with another noun, you run the risk of reinforcing their dysfunctional twelve-step process. She was a shill for the movement, and it’s plain to see she even disarmed your critical abilities.
The nation has to realize that so-called “pro-lifers” are using fetal life in a allegorical struggle to escape the earthly oblivion that will follow their death. Of so little faith that they cannot be comforted by the thought of an eternal reward, they seek eternal fame as heroes in the eyes of the society they will sooner or later leave forever. If you’ve read up on aborticentrism, you’d understand just how effective the Tebow commercial was.

If we all put our money and time and hearts into helping one another, I could stop listening to “so-called…this and that”..GEEZ!! “Pro-lifers” and “pro-choicers” could come together and take part in the healing of EACH OTHER. By the way, all these labels are giving me a belly-ache…Drop the political mumbo jumbo…Why do we all want to make enemies, and spend our lives in disagreement? It hasn’t gotten anyone very far. I know there’s a solution. We’re going in circles trying to find it (much like my rant here)…

Really simple.
Women have he right to control their own bodies.
Thats it, no argument.

Thanks for the comments, but I want to focus on what Larry Joe said. I agree that women have the right to control their own bodies. But, at 22 or so weeks, the fetus has definitely developed into a “baby.” That cannot be disputed. So, we’re okay with that woman killing, terminating, extinguishing, aborting something that advanced? Good discussions!
