Boring, boring, boring.
Last night I watched the new HBO documentary entitled “12th and Delaware.” On the corner of that street in Fort Pierce, Florida there is an abortion clinic called “A Woman’s World” and right across the road is an anti-abortion “crisis pregnancy center” called, uh, well I don’t remember their name and I’m too lazy to do the research but it’s something like Pregnancy Center.
The show basically depicted a week (or so) in the lives of the folks who work in each facility. The cameras focused more on the anti-abortion center and their efforts to persuade women from having abortions.
They started off by taking us inside the anti-abortion center where some “counselor” is trying to convince a young woman to have the baby. The one thing that they didn’t tell us was how the young girl actually got into the anti-abortion center. Did she go there thinking she was going to an abortion facility or did she just go there on her own free will? I ask because the pro-choice movement makes a big deal out of these center luring women under false pretenses. But I suspect that these women, and several others after her, went in on their own and just sat there and listened to a bunch of drivel about how abortion causes breast cancer, how it makes it more difficult to have future babies, how it makes you go psycho, etc. A few of the women actually told the counselor that they were going to have the abortion but they still remained in the facility. One even shared a MacDonald’s lunch with the counselor. I know I was missing something.
Then, at one point a young lady tells the counselor that she will not have the abortion. Praise Jesus! We’ve saved a baby! The counselor was in tears. Hurray, we’ve convinced another indigent, 17 year old to bear another baby to add to the welfare rolls!
Boring.
Then the cameras shifted to a pathetic group of anti-abortion protestors who were standing outside the clinic. One female octogenarian would wave a little plastic fetus at the women as they walked into the facility. Then, accompanied by dark, foreboding music, the cameras turned to a stocky, young lad in sunglasses and a too tight biker t-shirt. They followed him as he tailed a yellow Mustang that was used by the clinic staff to escort the abortion doctor (who had a bed sheet over his head). This protestor was your typical misogynistic, chauvinistic, supercalifragilistic white trash, probably divorced with three kids from three different mothers, recently lost his job at the auto body shop type of a protestor. I swear to God that when he finally caught a glimpse of the abortion doctor, when he actually saw the vile abortionist’s face, Joe Six Pack had an orgasm.
Boring.
Then there was the abortion doctor. I know docs have been killed over the last two decades. I personally knew 3 of them quite well. I know more might get killed. On the other hand, I cringe when I see a doctor, like the one who worked at this clinic, putting a bed sheet over his head as he is driven into the garage of the clinic. I know it’s for security reasons. I get it, I get it. But I also think that the doctor hiding in the shadows bit perpetuates the abortion stigma. Fortunately, on the other hand, there are so many other abortion doctors who walk into their clinic, face held high and even talk to the protestors. Yes, they may be carrying a gun and they’re on red alert, but I prefer that approach to the “I will not show my face” approach.
So, in the end I learned nothing new. The activities of the anti-abortion counseling centers have been the subject of congressional hearings in the 1990’s, “exposes” by Prime Time and Nightline and numerous articles in the mainstream media. We know they’re out there and I basically don’t like it but nothing will change. The protestors, the phony counselor and the abortion clinic staff will continue to go about their business.
Boring…

Oh! Pat! You put things so well…one complaint that you didn’t mention is if you are transporting the doctor and you go to the trouble of meeting him/her and bring them back to the clinic….why oh why would you use a car that rattles the windows!! I realize that Fla. can be a real “hot spot” and they have had murders there…that said with all the docs I had at my clinic we did use care transporting them but they did all walk in with their head high as you said…I think that the show depicted alot of truth abt what goes on but it seemed like a good bit of it was I don’t know….not what most clinics are really like!

I think I need to watch the movie again because your review is a little different of what I remember and I just watched las night, some of your points are off but anyways…
Yes the movie was boring, annoying, but that is basically what the pro life movement is, isn’t it?
A bunch of people who use almost terrorist tactics to convince women to have a child they don’t want and/or can not afford.
I think is terrible what they do and honestly thing they should be investing in educating people instead of standing around holding signs with incredibly poor taste pictures of fetuses.
The speech given by the father of that church was the most chocking to me. He compared abortions to sacrifices to the devil.
Such message given by a person in his position is so powerful to those who think the is right and could potentially instigate violence.

One very important thing that you left out is the fact that this girls sometimes(most of the time) call those places and are fooled into thinking that they are making an appointment with an actual abortion clinic. The pregnancy crises center even use a whole “class” on how to hook them when they call.
When you wrote you actually did not mention that and that to me was a important point.

Watching the 12th & Delaware. It amazes me to see that pro-life people uses a “FALSE” pretense of luring women into their office to have them changing their mind.
But I wonder what do they do if the girl/woman decide to follow their “sin” believes and to keep the baby!
The first 5 minutes of the show made me angry already because they lie without guilty at all!!!
The FETUS is not even close to a baby form, but they do put a baby doll format into the women hand to make them start to feel bad and guilty.
So now I ask, who is worse there, the women who for whatever reason got pregnant or those horrible pro-life people who LIE despicably and worse they thing they have GOD in their side – COME ON!!!!!!
So the skinny lady from the Women Care Center (Pat that is the name of the place) is giving a “class” to the followers of this stupid center and she says openly that when a woman calls, she don’t really say what she stands for, she lure them into getting there so she can make her evil move.
I have told for several times that I am not pro-life or either pro-choice, I live on the top of a pointing fence here about this kind of debate, but to lie to achieve my goals of beliefs!? NO WAY
It’s disrespectful the approach they have.
So, I will look for a place where I live in that has this weirdos pro-life liars in front and I will call and have an appointment saying that I am pregnant and wants to do an abortion, I will go to their office and listen to all they have to say… I will keep you guys informed of what really happens inside that place! TRUTH that is what i am looking for, and i do want to listen to the pro-life guys!

Sorry, don’t take this personal, but if you got to defend an idea, whatever that might be, please use the truth always, because that is GOD words. Whatever you deal with, deal telling the truth so if you do a mistake, and believe me you and anybody will make mistakes, you can be sure that you had said the truth and that is your best defense.

It would be nice to use the truth, but then everyone has their own intepretation of the truth. It’s like the “abortion causes breast cancer” argument. The pro-lifers cite some studies, but they studies were performed by pro-life organzations! Meanwhile, objective studies show no connection. IT seems that nowadays people just pick a position on an issue, THEN find the arguments to justify their position…

I am wondering, there is 4000 pro-life offices in US – 4000 – but there is only 816 abortion clinics…. hummmmm
Why is that??? Also i would like to know from the spanish lady who decide not to have an abortion on the 12th & Delaware if the pro-life people really did helped her, if the long hair blondie lady did go to the bank and gave that lady money to feed the other 6 children she has back home… instead offering only money, what about dignity of work!

No, they don’t get “sealed.” They are still very important to your oonnigg health, just as any other medical history is. But, just as your medical record now cannot be sent to just anyone, you medical history as a juvenile is still covered by any privacy laws in your area (in the US, it is still protected by HIPAA). Ask them: 1) is it true that abortion causes breast cancer? 2) if i have the baby, will you be able to help me take care of it? 3) Is it true that with a 7 week fetus, they rip off the legs and arms and head? 4) Are those abortionists real doctors? I’d love to hear their answers!!

I hope they answer correctly:
1) yes
2) yes
3) Not the head. Ever seen nine-months-old’s head, a new-born’s? It’s almost part of her torso. Her arm hardly reaches her forehead. So, just the arms and legs. (I don’t think too many killers surgically remove 7 week fetuses, anyway. Most wait until at least week 8. But a lot don’t care. They’d kill you if someone paid them enough.)
4) No, they abandoned medicine when they realized hit-men make a lot more money.

Very well written review; I agree wholeheartedly. Although the abortion clinic I worked in was a much different type of facility, we also had a CPC right next door and had to deal with their crap. I think this documentary could have been done in a much better, much more balanced way.

Well Dunkle you are so wrong….now you know abortion does not cause breast cancer…but I’m sure alot of women that have had breast cancer…. probably all lets see have patted their dog everyday when they got home from school….surely that’s what caused their breast cancer!!!! John you know so much about how and when an abortion is performed I hate to tell you now that sonograms are available many abortions are done every day at 7 weeks gestation…..

Now, Lorraine, didn’t you know that John has done an incredible amount of research on the topic of abortion and breast cancer? It annoys me to no end how some people (on both sides of the issue) just take for granted the skewed stuff that their national organizations put out. Can anyone out there think for themselves? Also, John, if a woman has a miscarriage does that mean she is prone to get breast cancer?

Miscarriages are natural, Pat. Many young people, probably more even than we realize, are too weak to survive the arduous journey from zygote to newborn. To kill someone who’s survived the hardest part of that journey is unnatural. When someone is pregnant, the natural process is to carry to term. Again, the unnatural is to ingest the poison or undergo the unnecessary operation that will kill the baby and damage the pregnant woman.
