I cannot keep it in any longer.
I am so pissed off at Sara Palin, Rush Limburger, Glenn Dick and the rest of the right wing nut balls out there who think that the venom they spout on a daily basis cannot set off some deranged person.
Now, before you jump all over me, let me say up front that I cannot prove that this guy in Arizona (whose name I will not reprint for fear of giving him the attention that he is looking for) was inspired by something on Palin’s website or by a particular incendiary comment by a talk show host. I get that piece. However, don’t tell me that a mentally unbalanced person does not slowly absorb all of the hateful, personal crap that is being spread out there. I am not a psychologist but I am so sick and tired of the political right poo-pooing the “power” that they have in creating such a negative climate in this country.
What really got my attention was how Sara Palin’s crew immediately took down
that part of her website that had the targets on the congressional districts, including Congresswoman Gifford’s. If they think it had no effect on anyone, if they felt it had absolutely nothing to do with the shooting, then why did they take it down? Huh? Huh? Geez, I just want to take that woman in my two arthritic hands and shake her head back and forth and try to knock that shit-eating grin off of her face. Okay, okay, I know I’m doing the same thing that I just accused them of doing, but cut me a little slack here.
The reason why I am so sensitive about this issue is that I’ve seen this pattern before. I’ve seen Bill O’Reilly night after night refer to my friend, Doctor George Tiller, as “Tiller the Killer.” Ha, ha, ha, very funny, Bill. Hey, look! My ratings went up! Now let’s charge our advertisers more money and I’ll get my cut.
But then, as we all know, after his (and other’s) incessant harassment of Doctor Tiller, some deranged psycho (whose name I also will not mention) grabbed a gun and killed Doctor Tiller in his church. Again, I cannot prove that there is a connection to the assassin and Bill O’Reilly’s rants but the murderer had clearly been exposed to all of the hatred and vile that was being spread by O’Reilly and others. What they don’t understand is that hatred has legs, that when you start peddling it you never know whose mind it will reach.
Indeed, I remember Paul Hill, the murderer of Doctor Baird Britton, once told me that a number of his colleagues in the pro-life movement were “harassing” him, saying things like “Well, if you suggest that it’s okay to kill a doctor, then why haven’t you done it?” I can’t prove that that pressure got to Paul, but you can connect the dots. The point is words can have an effect on people.
So, are you against abortion? Fine, just explain to me why and vote for your candidate and, as much as I don’t like it, go out and stand in front of an abortion clinic if you are in need of some attention. But when you start spewing vile, when you start getting personal, when you start putting names of doctors on a website with x’s across their picture, when you call someone a “murderer” or a “baby killer,” don’t express shock when someone who heard your words goes out and takes action. Don’t give me your crap about how sorry you are, how you do not condone violence, how you are praying for the family of the slain doctor.
You can’t spread hate and not expect someone to respond.

John, i am glad, happy and really honored by your comment. Yes, i am a grandmother at the age of 41 AND YES i am an adolescent by heart. THANK YOU…
If you need to translate whatever i am writing it might be because you need new glasses.
I am writing in here for quite some time now and nobody ever complained, yes, my first language is not english, so it can get confused sometimes, but nobody was ever rude to tell they need to translate whatever i wrote. But that is fine coming from you.
As a grandmother, i make sure every day that my grandson will grow to become a MAN not a robot thinking by what people say.
He is only 3 years old, but i do tell his parents every day to teach him how to treat a woman like she should be treated not as a mere reproduction system for his sperm. AND in case his girlfriend gets pregnant i also tell them that HE will be accountable for and will NOT agree with abortion unless the girls life is in danger or the child is to be born with a rare disease that will only cause suffering for everybody but specially to the kid. I am not good at lying John, even less at making it up things that i know are not real so i never said in here that i am PRO ABORTION, i am PRO FREE WILL each one of us knows what is better for them and nobody can decide for them.
PRO LIFE people forget that they have all the rights of having an opinion but they forgot to do a really simple thing called RESPECT for what other people think.
I would probably never have an abortion, but if a friend or somebody i know wants to do so, it is not my place to change their mind or to tell them what to do, because i will NOT finance that child life for the 18 years to come. SO my dear, translate away but please step out of your shell and stop being so blind…
You are a hypocritical person who wants to command other people life but forgot to take care of your own!

Don’t give me that “my first language was not english” to excuse your weaknesses. Joseph Conrad’s first language was not English either. And maybe the killers’ helpers on this blog don’t complain because they recognize a soul-mate. Finally, in this war everyone awake (and you’re one, Sonia, and that is a compliment) is either for child killing or against it, so don’t give me that “I am not pro-abortion” either. If you are in favor of killing someone who has a rare disease, you are pro-abortion.

maybe she should just reply to you in portuguese and let you figure it out on your own?
jesus never spoke english, why would you demand that she does AND go out of her way to explain in other words what she is saying when you want to play games and pretend that you don’t understand?

WHO TOLD YOU I WAS EXCUSING MYSELF TO YOU? Please don’t assume things that are not dear.
I was “trying” to say that YES sometimes when i write i can misuse words in different ways because in PORTUGUESE we write different than in english, not everything but most of it, SO i was actually saying that you could get confused of things that i said for that reason, but excusing myself to you. Well whatever!
I am not in favor of killing anybody. I don’t have a say on other people choice unless i will financially support that person to the end i have to SHUT UP whatever i think. GOT IT?
What goes for me, in my believes doesn’t mean that has to be the same that goes for you or anybody else.
You see the difference?
I don’t think you are wrong of being against abortion, it is your way of living, but i do think that you are wrong when you say that the removal of cells before it becomes more than only cells is a crime but killing doctors or harassing women in front of clinics, doctors in their residence is ok… You become contradictory in what you say yourself.
That doesn’t mean that i will instigate anybody with words or whatever to go in front of your house with a banner saying anything against you, because before being the person you are, you have family and they don’t have to pay the price of you being what you are.
I am trying to be polite here when i write because i don’t like calling people names, i think that is outrageous and out of need.
You and everybody deserves RESPECT you might not have that to give to anybody not even yourself, but if there is something my mom thought me well is that you might not like what people say but you got to RESPECT them because it’s their life not yours.
I was not giving you anything on my previous post. I was being honest what i know we can not expect the same from you. But again, that is fine, i will take in consideration everything that i read from you.

sonia, your english and the way you present things is just fine. and i know that it is a difficult language to master, but i think your english is better than his.
please don’t allow him or anyone else to make you feel otherwise.
you always go out of your way to be kind and tactful to him and to everyone else from what i have seen.
he just wants to antagonize others.

Sonia, if you google aborticentrism, you will meet the world of the so-called “pro-lifer” who is so focused on abortion that he cannot meet the needs of either fetal life (by caring for the pregnant woman) or a real child (whose needs he has to sacrifice in order to meet more pressing ones: his own).
The aborticentric is engaged is a struggle against his own death, because he is terribly aware of the nothing he will be in just a few short years– those who remembered him will have died, his house will bear no trace of him, the newspaper articles will moulder, even his gravestone will erode– but he is desperate to live on, like Caesar or Napoleon or Thomas a Becket. He wants to be remembered, and he seeks heroism as his immortality.
For this reason he tries to become a hero on the cheap. He picks as the subject of his rescue a blank slate, something he can attribute all sorts of virtues to, without fear of contradiction. He picks the fetus, which is far more passive than teenagers or dophins (you can always find something bad to say about them). He can make the fetus be anything he wants– so he makes it innocent, helpless, etc.
And then he tries to sell you on his being its hero– which is why he says you’re either FOR or AGAINST his position; he can’t be a hero if there are people who don’t care about his chosen heroics!
Most people deal with the fact of their mortality with the use of faith, reason, or both– but he can’t use either, sadly.

I am glad too Dunkle, because i can take it! And yet what Charles was saying was all about you. Who exactly pick your “person” who needs to be defended in your idea and that person don’t really have a say otherwise of what you say.
Thanks Charles. I appreciate your comment and i will take in consideration next time i try to say something to (dumb) pro-lifers who only think behind an old book…

This is a rant and it’s silly to respond to rants; so I won’t go past the first sentence: “WHO TOLD YOU I WAS EXCUSING MYSELF TO YOU?”
You told me in the previous post: “John,….yes, my first language is not english, so it can get confused sometimes.”
Next question (keep it short).

Thanks Rogelio… Yes you are right about that!
John,
“I am writing in here for quite some time now and nobody ever complained, yes, my first language is not english, so it can get confused sometimes, but nobody was ever rude to tell they need to translate whatever i wrote. But that is fine coming from you.”
When you select just a line out of the whole sentence, you can make it sound the way you want to do so… But of course coming from you it is a normal thing to get it.
But so i decide to _copy and paste_ the whole sentence, and please, tell me where i said point blank that i was apologizing? Unless calling you rude in your native language mean apologies i don’t see it…
Thanks!
🙂
