First time in months to be at newly-located Allentown Womens Center and have to say that the circus continues. The only difference is that the protesters are unable to pass out their literature (ah, shucks). Oh, wait, and their yelling in too muddled to be comprehended—cause they’re too far away (again, shucks).
Highlights include
* a woman with questionable mental stability carrying a sign “Women Do Regret Their Abortion” and using a bullhorn to lament tearfully her abortion from decades ago (can you say “build a bridge and get over it”? or go see a shrink?)
* super fat frump wearing two signs strung around her turkey gobble neck, one in front and one in back, that were almost horizontal to the ground (Joyce, hon, give it up)
* Dunkle trespassing on private property adjacent to the clinic, also using bullhorn but to no effect (once a Loser Cruiser, always a Loser Cruiser)

The Police won’t do anything about trespassing?

The police will do nothing unless the corporation who does not want trespassers complains. The clinic cannot complain with any expectation of relief. This police chief leaves a lot to be desired.
The good news is that the terrorists, mean-spirited beasts that they are, can’t get close to any patients or their companions. All they can do is loiter at the edges of the property with their ignorant signs.

i’m glad the relocated.
i have seen the vids of how close they get to the patients and the staff and i have long thought there needed to be buffers there for the sake of security.
the protesters at that clinic don’t seem to understand that love is far more effective than hatred.

From the Onion:
“TOPEKA, KS—Planned Parenthood announced Tuesday the grand opening of its long-planned $8 billion Abortionplex, a sprawling abortion facility that will allow the organization to terminate unborn lives with an efficiency never before thought possible.
During a press conference, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards told reporters that the new state-of-the-art fetus-killing facility located in the nation’s heartland offers quick, easy, in-and-out abortions to all women, and represents a bold reinvention of the group’s long-standing mission and values.”
I’m waiting for a drive-thru….maybe I’ll start one next to a Wal-Mart or BJs or Costco for easy shopping and medical care.

And here’s even funnier stuff from the above article:
“The 900,000-square-foot facility has more than 2,000 rooms dedicated to the abortion procedure. The abundance of surgical space, Richards said, will ensure that women visiting the facility can be quickly fitted into stirrups without pausing to second-guess their decision or consider alternatives such as adoption. Hundreds of on-site counselors are also available to meet with clients free of charge and go over the many ways that carrying a child to term will burden them and very likely ruin their lives.
The remaining space is dedicated to amenities such as coffee shops, bars, dozens of restaurants and retail outlets, a three-story nightclub, and a 10-screen multiplex theater—features intended not only to help clients relax, but to foster a sense of community and make abortion more of a social event.”
Don’t you know that any anti choicers reading this will be disgusted and get their undies in wad?

Don’t believe everything you read in a church bulletin. This web notice found in St. Thomas More Catholic Church Prolife page:
A handful of Pro-Lifers maintain a peaceful, prayerful presence at the Allentown Women’s Center at 1409 Union Blvd. Allentown, PA. Please help us pray for the little ones dying at the center.
If you are willing to give one hour or 1/2 hour. to pray with us, please call Joyce @ 610-366-1392 or Mary at 610-366-7377. God Bless you for caring.
Translation: Mary and Joyce will stand as close as they can, shouting to you about murder and about God being offended by abortion, all the while shoving their biased pamphlets in the faces of innocent women and their companions. Peaceful, prayerful? I think not.

Shelly, they want to PUNISH. To be able to punish someone is to be at least physically superior to them. It is a way to prove to oneself that one is in charge, in control– and if a person feels he does not have control, he can assuage his feelings of powerlessness by punishing someone else.
Which is why when you look at a self-proclaimed “pro-lifer” you find plenty of really defective characters. . .

From asheeraromerus in comment found in WaPo:
“ABORTION IS A CIVIL AND CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT SUPPORTED BY THE RIGHTS TO PRIVACY, THE EQUAL PROTECTION CLAUSE OF THE 14TH AMENDMENT, AND THE 13TH AMENDMENT.
NO HUMAN ( that means the FETUS, too) has a right to life or any due process rights by the 14th amendment to use another human’s body or body parts AGAINST their will, civil and constitutional rights: that’s why you are not forced to donate your kidney—the human fetus is no exception; this is supported by the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment AND 13th amendment, which makes reproductive slavery unconstitutional.”
Maybe this is a new message we need: Women cannot be forced against their will to carry a pregnancy to term or, shortened, Women are not brood mares or Women are not fetal slaves?

ABORTION ON DEMAND AND WITHOUT APOLOGY!
Fetuses are not babies.
Abortion is not murder.
Women are not incubators.
A woman who cannot decide for herself when and whether to have a child is not free. Forced motherhood is female enslavement. And when women – half of humanity – are not free, then no one is free.

According to Unicef, about 29,000 children under the age of five die every day, mainly from preventable causes. That’s over ten million children who suffer and die every year, ten million thinking, feeling children who suffer for days, weeks and then die. It’s a horror too large to imagine. It’s the quotidian horror that is overshadowed by the immense propaganda machinery of the prolife cartel, an unsavory alliance of misogynists and religious terrorists. A quick scan of the news headlines provide examples from the battles over contraception to the state-sanctioned rape via transvaginal ultrasound. In another example, GOP presidential hopeful Santorum offers his theocratic views for the United States leaving little room for the constitution, relegating women to motherhood slaves, and appointing the bishops to his cabinet. At the local and national level, anti abortion activists bemoan the number of abortions, whine about the loss of the unborn, while ignoring millions of born children who die, millions who are homeless, or over 16 million who are food insecure. It takes a certain level of myopia or ignorance to ignore the horrors that born children endure, to give precedence to a nonsentient potential while also condemning the sentient woman. It also takes an obnoxious amount of hubris to ignore the lives of women, to discount their moral compass, to render their agency invalid.

It’s not myopia or ignorance, it is a compulsion driven by the need to repress the prospect of one’s own death. The fight against abortion is an allegorical battle against the so-called “pro-lifer’s” own death. He tries to convince himself that God will save him from the oblivion of his own death if he can save a fetus. That is why they appear irrational, hysterical, out-of-control and close-minded. That is why the prospect of millions of children not simply dying but suffering for all their life before they die doesn’t bother them. That is why when you ask them to raise the next Jason Komisarovsky or Ted Bundy, they respond, “So you think he should have been ABORTED?” They are so focused on abortion they cannot care for human life, only about it.

Well, it looks like anti-abortion Gov Bob McDOnnell of Virginia is backing off his support of legislation that would require some women to get a vaginal ultrasound before getting an abortion. It seems that no one really understood the ramifications of the bill when they voted for it. Now, ain’t that a surprise!!! Even most of the pro choice groups didn’t realize what it would requres. And that’s sad…

Actually, Shelly, they’re not morons. Not in the way that Norma McCovey is– just a bit of a dim bulb and easily led.
They have found the empowerment that has been so lacking previously in their lives, and it lies in being so-called “pro-life.” You will find in their backgrounds some common themes– authoritarian fathers, rigid family structures and discipline, lower economic status, lower education attainment, taught by their adult role models that a “normal” woman is submissive and accepting of male authority. Getting into adult life herself, she finds out that if she becomes a so-called “pro-life” demonstrator she can rage as much as she wants to, and all the rage she has felt over all her lifetime can now be vented against women who have the powers she never had– the power to control their destinies.
And by venting on the wrong target, she is able to continue to endure her confined existence. I’d suggest you check out aborticentrism, but you’ve already been there.

Every weekday morning for several months I’ve been hoding this sign outside my neighboorhood Planned Parenthood: HOW CAN SOMEONE P U L L THE ARMS AND LEGS OFF A LITTLE GIRL? This morning I got the answer.
A young fellow heading towards the middle schol on the next block stopped and said, “Easy, four ropes, two cars, bloomp.”

What do I know. I figure they use the vacuum. I know Cindy Rodriguez, who used to be the autoclave supervisor at the AWC, said it was her job to count the five parts — two arms, two legs, torso/head — and they used the vacuum. I guess the live baby comes out whole in the D&E?

My point, John, is that you always talk about the arms and legs etc. and you scream that at the women going in. But in about 90% of the cases, they use the vaccuum and so there are no parts. So, you are screaming at women who are not engaged in that actictivity you are describing. Does that make a difference to you?

I gotta look this up. Cindy says her job was to make sure all five parts were removed; you say that don’t happen.
