First there was the Susan G Komen Cure that got caught up in the “abortion wars.” And now, sadly, it’s those cute little girl scouts who pop up on our doorsteps once a year selling us those cute little cookies. Yep, I’m talking about the organization that teaches young girls how to offer first aid, how to tie a knot, how to plant a tulip. Yep, the organization that epitomizes all that is right with America. Yep – the Girl Scouts.
Sit tight for a moment and try to figure out this convoluted scenario.
It seems that many girl scout troops also belong to either the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) or the Girl Scouts USA. Somewhere along the line two young scouts discovered a pamphlet called “Healthy, Happy, and Hot – A Young Person’s Guide to Their Rights, Sexuality and Living with HIV.” They claimed the pamphlet was distributed by the Girl Scouts USA at some kind of workshop in New York City. Then, these two minor sleuths discovered a blog on the WAGGGS website that encourages, “safe, affordable, and accessible abortions for women.”
Bingo. And then the proverbial poop (again) hit the fan.
Now, numerous pro-life and generally right wing nut ball “we’ve got nothing but time on our hands” conservative groups are all over the internet urging parents to boycott the girl scouts! Then, right away the St. Timothy Roman Catholic parish in Chantilly, Virginia ousted 12 troops with 115 girls when the parish’s leader, Rev. Gerald Weymes, told scout leaders they could no longer use church or parochial school facilities. A spokesperson for the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital said that “misinformation is passing as fact” in response. She said that their organization does not take a position on abortion or birth control, adding that “we believe these matters are best discussed by girls with their families.” .
Now, I normally disagree with the right wing and with pro-lifers. But, as I’ve written before, I do respect most of them and their views. But for gosh sakes, are they losing their collective minds??? Boycott the Girl Scouts???
Look I understand the quest for purity, to try to be consistent in your beliefs in pursuit of your ultimate goal. But does these folks have nothing else to do? And are they now going to look that little pimply-faced girl scout in the eyes and tell her that they are not buying their cookies because of abortion? Hell, that little kid who is just trying to raise money for their field trip doesn’t even know what abortion is. But, no, say the pro-lifers – we need to make them aware as early as possible of the “horrors” of abortion. Kinda reminds me of how the Nazis were teaching their kids at an early age how to hate the Jews.
Happily, the boycott doesn’t seem to be taking hold. One spokesperson recently actually said that initial sales of the cookies this year are up more than 6 percent.
And, as for me, when little Sarah comes to my doorstep this year, I’m gonna put in an extra order of those double chocolate chip cookies that are so bad for me!

This week, 2/13, Pat Richard’s pro-death essay in the abortion.ws blog attacks us who realize that the Girl Scouts has been infiltrated by perverts and other anti-Catholics. Here are the last four paragraphs of Pat’s essay:
. . . .
I know it’s difficult, but I do believe that Pat is being ingenuous here. However, how can he not realize that this legal child-killing battle in the never-ending war between God and Satan is widespread and that it involves children, especially children?
How can Pat not realize that the Satanic forces want pre-adolescents to interact overtly sexually with others. They infiltrated the elementary schools in 2009 and they infiltrated the Girl Scouts three years earlier. Much to our shame it’s taken us that many years to react. And Pat is reacting to our reaction.
I wonder why the perverts have moved in on the Girl Scouts and not the Boy Scouts, yet. Any ideas?

Tell me about it, Kate. I love how they/he give us so much credit for being so organized to have conspiracies that infiltrate organizations like the Girl Scouts. Like we have secret meetings plotting how to get those little girls into our web of sadism so they can ultimately have abortions so the clinics can ultimately make money and take over the world! OMG. But, Johnny, that’s a great idea about infiltrating the Boy Scouts. We know that they have to be heterosexuals, so we should start planting the seed of sex in their heads soon so they can then plant the seeds in the little Girl Scouts who will then have abortions, blah, blah. I”m exhausted…

Well…”Dunkle”…they have moved in on the Boy Scouts..but those are the “perverts..that molest” not the far “right wing perverts” that want to ruin a wonderful organization as the Girl Scouts!!
I was called upon to “talk with” a local Girl Scout troop…(I have to admit the first time I got a call …I “was a little taken aback!) When I was asked to come and talk with the girls about beginning of puberty…what to expect about starting their menses…that type of thing…never once …did the word “ABORTION” come into the conversation!! The reason they needed someone to come & talk to them?…They were working on a badge!!…I was very pleased to be asked to do it…The girls were excited to learn about what was going to start happening to them!!
I asked the Troop Leader…why she thought to call us? Her answer…”plain & simple”…she brought an older daughter to our facility to get information for a report she was doing for school!! She said that I talked with her daughter gave her all the information she need, made some suggestions to her about other info she should include…bottom line…the “A word” was never mentioned!!
Also, knowing how under handed some of the “anti’s” can be I would NOT be the least bit surprised if that info was planted by them to bring more attention..to their warped methods of trying to say the “Pro-choice” groups are out to “harm their young girls” by giving them “perverted info”!!
P.S. That picture of Paul Hill brings back nightmares!!

Actually, there was a massive Mormon-based repression of Boy Scout pederasty in Idaho a couple years ago which earned a local paper a couple of prizes in journalism. But since Boy Scouts can’t get pregnant very easily, it’s hardly surprising the aborticentrics overlook what happened in there and in the Catholic Church….

“ABOUT SANTORUM’S PRO-ABORTION BEHAVIOR — From NYTimes mag, 5.22.2005:
The childbirth in 1996 was a source of terrible heartbreak — the couple were
by doctors early in the pregnancy that the baby Karen was carrying had a
defect and would survive only for a short time outside the womb. According
Santorum’s book, ”Letters to Gabriel: The True Story of Gabriel Michael Santorum,” she later developed a life-threatening intrauterine infection and a
reached nearly 105 degrees. She went into labor when she was 20 weeks pregnant.
“After resisting at first, she allowed doctors to give her the drug Pitocin to
the birth. Gabriel lived just two hours.
“Q: How is this not a medically indicated abortion to sane the life of the mother?
“SANTORUM: Because I say it’s not.

Speaking of abortion (and who doesn’t on this site?), have any of you noticed Troy Newman (Operation Rescue) and his latest gimmick called abortion.docs? It’s a no-brainer directory, data that a kindergartener could find, listing clinics and doctors. However, the entire site is a vigilante-style “we know where you work and we’re watching you” threat. It’s a practice well-known to Newman and others in the antiabortion cartel.
As the leader of Operation Rescue and the self-appointed President of Pro-Life Nation (visions of gradiosity?), Newman takes the law into his own hands to offend, to threaten and, sometimes, to incite others to kill, in the name of justice or life. The issue of their victim’s guilt is usually secondary, since he and his followers serve as prosecutor, judge, jury, and executioner. And while Newman may not soil his own hands directly, he is as guilty of any wrongful death, as the man or woman who actually kills. And to prove that he wants no blood on his hands, no hint of extralegal activity, he offers a disclaimer on abortion.docs site: This site is meant for informational purposes to aid in the end of abortion through peaceful, legal means. It is in no way meant to encourage or incite violence of any kind against abortion clinics, abortionists, or their staff. We denounce acts of violence against abortion clinics and providers in the strongest terms.”
It’s a disingenuous disclaimer if you consider the vitriol used on both the Operation Rescue and abortion.docs sites, to fight what he imagines as the reified monster called abortion. In his Pro-Life Nation booklet, is this statement: “We need to work a plan that will build on each victory to create the conditions where abortion becomes unthinkable, unavailable, and illegal with the protections of the law extended to the preborn.”
Note that there is no accommodation for women or women’s families. Abortion involves real women who have real moral obligations to themselves and to their families. And when these women make the decision to have an abortion because they cannot or will not carry their pregnancies to term, there are real doctors, counselors and nurses who are there for these women. We’re talking real humans not imaginary abstractions called abortion.

To be more specific, Rogelio, while I was there, here’s the write up:
From RH REality, August 3, Jodi Jacobsen:
On one side of the street, a block away from a small group of anti-choicers, peaceful defenders held signs of support for Dr. Carhart. One of the defenders, a pregnant 20-something woman, sat on the curb in the heat and humidity holding her sign. A man darted across the street from her and started taking pictures. He then darted back across the street toward her to take more. Finally, he got down in the middle of the street in front of the pregnant woman, taking pictures of her.
She asked, in exasperation (an obvious reaction when someone is upskirting you sitting on a sidewalk, pregnant and hot) and concerned he would get hit by a car: “Who are you?”
His answer? “I am Troy Newman, bitch.”
Troy Newman is the President of Operation Rescue, the group that applauded the death of Dr. George Tiller, and claims a desire to “protect and respect women.”

From the Department of How Dumb Can You Be? comes one mucked up sideline from ProlifeBerks (Wyomissing PA) newsletter with my remarks in brackets:
“The Allentown Women’s Center (AWC) has recently moved to just outside the city limits of Bethlehem, to 31 S. Commerce Drive, Hanover Township [which is also just outside the city limits of Easton. So what’s your point?]. Maybe they’ll become the Bethlehem Women’s Center [speculative and worthless to include in a newsletter]. Have they worn out their welcome in Allentown? [only the pschyo protesters wore out their welcome, Kathy, that’s why the asst. police of chief told you during one of your phony complaints, that you were a pain in his ass]. Sadly, now they are associated with the town most noted for Jesus birth [NO on two counts. 1) they are not in Bethlehem, they’re in Hanover Township. Duh!. 2) Jesus’s birth was not in Pennsylvania. No wonder people think you are crazy] while they continue to kill hundreds of unborn children [no children, just fetuses. Again. Duh!] each month. Pray for them [who? the fetuses, the Center?]. They have the blood of innocent children on their hands [You’re a has-been nurse. Don’t you know they wear gloves?]. Heard that story before too [‘that’ is in reference to what part of your corny narrative…grammar, gramma, grammar].
And that’s it, folks, real stories from real weirdos.

The new location is relatively close but the protesters cannot get close to the patients at all. The protesters’ responses have been pathetic and hilarious–pathetic because they’ve resorted to using bullhorns and sirens; hilarious because they can’t get any traction, can’t hand out there propaganda, can’t drive stakes into the ground for their ridiculous signs, and cannot array themselves out into the street (without being ticketed) to create any meaningful impact. I have no doubt that there are few twisted sisters (like Kuhns, Mazalewski and others) who are busy, busy, busy trying to find ways to file another frivolous lawsuit for her own monetary gain and to right what they deem a crime against their own cartel.

I especially like this part when referencing the religiously fundamentalist luminaries: “They seem tormented by demons that those in the reality-based community scarcely experience. That may explain their extraordinary latitude in absolving their political and ecclesiastical heroes of their sins: while most of us might regard George W. Bush as a dry drunk resentful of his father, Newt Gingrich as a sociopathic serial adulterer and Ted Haggard as a pathetic specimen in terminal denial, their followers on the right apparently believe that the greater the sin, the more impressive the salvation – so long as the magic words are uttered and the penitent sinner is washed in the Blood of the Lamb.”
That really does it, the sins washed away by blood. Kinda’ contradictory from the plebian wing nuts who yammer on and on about blood being on the hands of others….

In this election season, it seems wise to listen to the chants from Tea Partiers who claim Obama is a socialist or a communist. And sadly, unbeknownst to the hordes of loyoal, everyday Joe’s and Jane’s, their so-called grassroots movement was instigated and funded by corporate billionaires (think Charles and David Koch) who want regulation-free markets. Blindly, these plebians do the work of corporate-funded PR propagandists when they scream “hands off my health care” and “no government-ruined health care” and “we want our freedoms” and such. In health care and related industries, they want no government intervention. But when you look at the demographics of the members, mostly white, male, educated, wealthy, over 45, they also tend to be pro-life, meaning anti abortion, meaning pro governmental regulation of abortion and women’s bodies. How does that work?

I had to laugh at one especially obnoxious and litigious protester. She waddled across the street from where she parked her car, only to set up a stool so she could cop a squat, too fat and feeble-footed to stand or walk. Yet, she opines in her saccharine online post that people should fast for the 40 days of Lent. I’m thinking sista’ ought to follow her own advice.
