The images are disgusting, frightening, gross and, once exposed to them, forever etched in your mind. I am referring to the graphic pictures of aborted fetuses that you regularly see on display in front of your local abortion clinic.
Anyone who has ever entered an abortion facility (or just driven by one for that matter) knows exactly what I am talking about. Heck, you don’t really have to be anywhere in the vicinity of an abortion clinic to see them. Some anti-abortion activists put the pictures on the back of their pick-up trucks and just cruise around the neighborhood. Or, trying to save gas in these harsh economic times, they’ll just park the same truck in as visible a spot as possible to catch folk’s attention as they are going to Home Depot or the Little League field. Not to mention that the pictures are available all over the Internet.
There are probably hundreds of variations of these pictures floating around. One thing I do know, however, is that the VAST majority are rather dated pictures. I don’t know exactly where they came from, although many pro-choicers claim they are pictures of miscarriages that occurred in Canada. But, I am confident that they are old pictures because the remains of an abortion are now considered “medical waste” and are disposed of accordingly, so it’s virtually impossible to photograph the results. And, to be perfectly honest, no abortion provider in their right mind would ever dump a semi-intact fetus or fetus parts into a pail for the whole world to see. Indeed, every abortion provider in the country knows that they are being watched very, very carefully by anti-abortion activists with way too much time on their hands, so why the hell would they give them more “ammunition” by tossing out a fetus or two into the outside garbage pail?
But let’s forget about how old the pictures are and where they came from. The fact is that many of those pictures generally are an accurate representation of the results of a LATE TERM abortion. And everyone needs to remember that the VAST majority of abortions are performed in the first trimester. So, the pictures slant things a little but if I were anti-abortion, I’d be doing the same thing.
The bottom line is that, if there is no intervention, the fetus will continue to develop in utero and when the abortion takes place at some point the fetus will have developed to the point where there are identifable fetal parts. Indeed, after a LATE TERM abortion the physician must insure that all the parts have been recovered to avoid any infections. So, my point is that some of these pictures (discounting some that might be of a miscarriage at 31 weeks) do depict the results of an actual abortion.
Now, before the pro-choice movement starts making that noose for my public lynching…
On the other hand, the pro-choice movement has always had a similar sensationalistic opportunity to catch the eye of the public – they could show the hundreds of pictures of women lying on their bathroom floor in a pool of blood, dead from a self-induced abortion. They could show the inside of the room of an unqualified illegal “abortionist.” These pictures could be used to remind the public that, when abortion was illegal, women desperate to terminate their pregnancy often tried to do it on their own or resorted to back-alley abortions, often with disastrous consequences. Law enforcement officials arriving on the scene often took photographs of the results of these attempted abortions. I’ve seen the pictures and they are just as shocking as the “dead fetus” pictures, if not more so.
Years ago, leaders of the pro-choice movement had a serious internal debate about whether or not to use these graphic pictures in the same way the antis used the pictures of the aborted fetuses. For the most part, the groups decided that they would not use them because they were so graphic. Yes, some pictures of the dead women leaked out but for the most part the pro-choice organizations never resorted to that tactic. Indeed, it’s a rare site these days when you see the old image of the coat hanger, one of the instruments used for a self-induced abortion.
Pictures do speak a thousand words. The only difference is the anti-abortion movement has decided it doesn’t care if they shock little seven year old children who happen to be passing by. The pro-choice movement, meanwhile, has taken the high road.

In #38, when it is pointed out that embryonic abortions are proof that God performs abortions, Deanna says: women’s bodies aren’t perfect and that’s why those abortions happen.
Response:
No woman’s body is perfect, not event the ones who carry successfully to term, SO— certainly there are doctors who are frustrating God’s intent to abort a child every time they prescribe bed rest for a pre-eclamptic woman…
That might sound a little twisted, Deanna, but it’s a logical conclusion from your statement. You’re mixing religion with science– you can argue from the scientific point of view, or from the religious, but you can’t have it both ways. Either embryonic abortions happen from an impersonal cause or they happen because of the actions of a Deity.
If the latter is the case, then God performs abortions.
If the former is the case, then there is no moral value attached to an abortion( except in one specific scenario: the woman does not want to have an abortion). And therefore God does not care, because God doesn’t mess with the science behind His creation.
By the way, I did read the article on your blog. Your cited verse is counteracted by Ecclesiastes IV, i-iii (remember, Scripture is the Word of God, not of the writer). Your characterization of God as wanting us to ‘walk beside him, love him…” can apply equally to an alcoholic father who puts a toy in the middle of a play room and tells the kids they can play with everything EXCEPT that one. Garden of Eden, what?
Life makes much more sense if we play the reverse of Pascal’s “divine gamble”:
Pascal said if we act as though there is a God who will punish us for doing wrong, when we die and find there is a God, we go to Heaven for having been good, but if we die and find there is no God, we have lost nothing. So we win either way.
Let’s make life on Earth better with a better “divine gamble”: Let’s pretend there is no God, and that if we want anything good to happen in life, it’s up to us to be good. That way, we don’t have to wait to die to see if good things happen, and we know that unless we do good, nothing good will happen at all!
And if we die and there is a God, we go to Heaven. And if we die and there isn’t a God, we’ve done more good than we hoped for from a nonexistent God.

So which of the crazy religiosity people are the arbiters of the true religion.

One thing is for sure. I have learned from you guys that represent the pro-CHOICE advocates that you are not about anyone’s choice except your own. You yell freedom but what really happens is that you react with bitterness to anyone who differs in belief than you. Apparently one isn’t really allowed a choice to believe their way, only your way. If I believe in God I am an idiot. If I believe that some birth control is abortive I am an idiot. If I believe abortion is wrong I am an idiot. You have proven as a group that CHOICE is a lie. There is no choice unless it is exactly like yours. You people have done more to discredit the pro-choice stand by your baseless name calling, religious bashing, and general hatefulness than anything I have ever seen and I have been active in the pro-life movement for over 20 years. But you guys have shown that you care nothing about humanity and their choices. All you care about is YOUR way or no way. You have shown that you have no tolerance for anything beyond what you think. Since I have been here I have tried to have logical adult conversations as Pat invited me to. You have made that impossible. If you plan to try and seriously advocate for anything with the word CHOICE attached to it then I suggest that you begin by getting a clear understanding of what that word means. It means a choice to choose to be pro-life if one sees fit, a choice to choose to believe in the God of my choosing without being called names for it and a choice to voice my opinion especially when invited to do so. You know nothing of choice. You are as narrow minded as any so called “Bible thumper” just about a different topic. Not only do you not give people the freedom to choose anything beyond your choice but you attack them if they have a differing opinion and then you have the nerve to complain about protesters at abortion clinics not supporting a “woman’s right to choose.” You have called me more names and acted rude and hateful more than any protester has ever done at any clinic. Congratulations you have just proven that pro-choice does not exist! What really exists is anti-prolife and anti-Christianity! I have chosen my stand. I am a pro-life Christian. If you do not tolerate that then your claims to be about choice are lies.

You talk intelligently to stupid people,d — people “named” Karen Armstrong, Sol, Rachel, Sally, Katie, Karim, LDM, Anonymous, “Dwanna,” Jared, and, my favorite, “DeAnna,” I just match their stupidities till one of them erupts:
” A. Liggins Says: December 6, 2010 at 11:07 am — I have to wonder why it is that so many people are responding to Mr. Dunkle’s posts. Whomever John Dunkle is, he or she obviously is enjoying the attention everyone is heaping upon his rhetoric. He needles people into becoming his pawns in a game of words that ends with you all you looking like mad, angry idiots.
Ignore the man. He’ll go away eventually. Let him have the last word, if it means so much to him. It is clear he is very much enjoying these interactions he precipitates by making rude comments on this site. And you all fall right into the trap, and let him needle you into his game. It’s silly, manipulative, and childish. Ignore him. He’ll go away eventually.”
Please, though, forget that at this point they’re “mad, angry, idiots” and keep responding intelligently to them. For two reasons — I send your powerful words around the earth, and they also are made in the image of likeness of God and the possibility always exists that some of them, even one, will realize that.

Sharing for me is putting it out there. There are so many thnigs that are the it. The idea or possibility, a fear, a hope, could be love, or as a way of enrolling. Those are just a few of the possibly its. I know right now Howard the dog is sharing with me that it’s past his bed time:)Sharing is vulnerable, its generous, it requires us to communicate. Somewhere along the way we stop communicating and naturally the share is missing as a result.I have found that our sharing as a family has opened up our lives to the possibility of creating and holding Family as a dynamic and positive support system. I keep checking in and we are in action and support of one another. There is momentum and there are set backs but each of us gains when we share with the other.P

Well! quite the exchanges here in the last twelve hours.
So, let me get this straight– the God of aborticentrism is one who will whimsically change His (not Her) laws of science to match His followers’ concepts: Embryos are equipped with a soul at birth, but He won’t let those souls into Heaven if they haven’t suffered for Him. Abortion is murder, so they suffer and go to Heaven (now that Limbo is known to be nonexistent). So the so-called “pro-lifers” should love abortion, because more babies get into heaven. But they hate abortion. This is all very confusing.
Is their God really some sort of vindictive alcoholic parent who has His children just to abuse them? Are these people really acting like children of an alcoholic parent do, to guess His intentions and keep Him happy. Do they take on the role of “explaining” His actions? Or are they simply interpreting reality in order to give a respectability to their own bundle of discomfort, fear and confusion?
Why their focus on death, death, death? They despise and condemn it, even as they eat dead animals. They cannot accept that in order for something to live, something else always dies– and that includes all forms of life. It is a very strange God indeed who would have a rule like this in His creation– and then create “pro-lfers.” Glod has a sense of humor.

It is obvious from this post that you seriously do not understand very much about the God that we serve. I hesitate to go into it here because of the attacks that would ensue but you asked a question so i will answer it.
you said, “Embryos are equipped with a soul at birth, but He won’t let those souls into Heaven if they haven’t suffered for Him. Abortion is murder, so they suffer and go to Heaven ”
Never, not once in the Bible is it EVER suggested that a person must suffer to go to heaven. That is not a true biblical teaching. The only way according to the Bible for a person to go to heaven is to accept the fact that Jesus died to pay for their sins and turn and follow him. John 14:6
As far as the babies who die before they can understand this goes, if you are interested here is an excellent article that explains that. http://www.ondoctrinecom/2mac0142.htm
Also, believers do not “guess his intentions and keep him happy” as if it were some crap shoot. Romans 2 : 14-15 tells us that “the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness,”. What this means is that people know deep down in the hidden places f their hearts right from wrong. They know what is expected of them. But most of the time that knowledge is ignored or buried very deep by the desire to do what they want instead. But according to the scripture they know. Why do you think they get so angry when the abortion issue is brought up.? When I say it is wrong? It is because it triggers that knowledge that is deep in there that they have tried to keep recessed. It makes them angry because they want that left alone. Their conscious bears witness that it is wrong. The rest of that verse says “and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.”. If it is wrong their conscious knows it deep down and if not it knows that. A person who says, “well,it didn’t bother me” can only say that if they ignored their conscious. This is bible. Not my opinion.
Let me just say this to any causal observers. I have no intention of debating the Bible, God, or religion with any of you. This is not the place for that. I am simply answering a question that he asked. Please be social and mature enough to stay out of it unless you have a genuine comment to make. Thank you.

Let’s debate what is: God doesn’t take care of children; people take care of children. If people don’t take care of the next baby, it will suffer horribly throughout its life. People who insist someone else take care of babies are exposing those babies to terrible, terrible risk.
These people call themselves “pro-lifers,” but don’t in general (I exclude you) do nothing for those they claim to have “rescued.” They’re extremely uncomfortable about sex as well as about death, and they refuse to examine their personal need to be perceived as a “rescuer” in the one area of human endeavor which requires no effort, no sacrifice and no risk if they change their mind about the depth of their involvement.
They also refuse to examine the need for every child to be nurtured, preferring to say that all the wrongs suffered are part of a deity’s inscrutable plan. And then they complain when people call them out for being frauds, lazy, overcontrolling and compensating, but not necessarily in polite language.

I hear you Pat and as I said before the so called pro-life people who behave that way irritate me as well. But my comments about the “choicers” at least these on here (most) still stands. They tolerate no choice but their own. You have to admit that. With that said it is also obvious that most of them are either high school or young college kids who haven’t matured enough to have a reasonable conversation yet. They have failed to realize that nothing is accomplished through name calling and intolerance but that isn’t their goal anyway. Their goal is to make the pro-lifers appear to be stupid and irrelevant. But in their quest to do that they have made themselves appear to be that way when I am sure that most are more intelligent than they have made themselves appear.

Pat,
Here is a link to the full report on the Allentown clinic. Thought you might be interested: operationrescue.org/pdfs/Pennsylvania%20Department%20of%20Health-Allentown%2005262011.pdf
Here is a sample of one of the issues.
“There was a freezer in the scrub room which was identified by EMP1 and
by signage as “Infectious Waste”. EMP1 opened the freezer. There was multiple areas of a brown red frozen splatter and smear marks on the inside door of the freezer, on the rubber gasket (seal) between the freezer door and the freezer and on all sides of the interior of the freezer. There was also a thick layer of this brown red frozen material on the bottom of the freezer. EMP1 identified this brown red frozen material as frozen blood.”
So, he was storing the dead babies in a freezer and their blood filled the bottom. That is the sickest thing I think I have ever heard apart from some of Gosnell’s mess. Let me ask you a question. There was a lot of media coverage back in the 90’s about clinics selling the baby parts. I’m sure you remember the 20/20 report on that. I am curious if that is why they freeze them instead of sending them to be disposed of? I just can’t figure out why they would keep them and freeze them. Do you know?

Remember : You asked! The best way to answer that question is to let the Bible answer it.
Isaiah 59:2 But your sinful acts have alienated you from your God; your sins have caused him to reject you and not listen to your prayers.
Romans 3:23 all people have sinned, they have fallen short of God’s glory
Revelation: 21:8 But cowardly, unfaithful, and detestable people, murderers, sexual sinners, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars will find themselves in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Romans 5:8 Christ died for us while we were still sinners. This demonstrates God’s love for us.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not of works, so that no one can boast.
Romans 10:8-10 “This message is near you. It’s in your mouth and in your heart.” This is the message of faith that we spread. If you declare that Jesus is Lord, and believe that God brought him back to life, you will be saved. By believing you receive God’s approval, and by declaring your faith you are saved. (saved from eternal separation from God, hell, God’s wrath)
1 John 5:11-12 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. The one who has the Son has this eternal life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have this eternal life.
Titus 3:5-7 he saved us, not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us in full measure through Jesus Christ our Savior. And so, since we have been justified by his grace, we become heirs with the confident expectation of eternal life.
