It seems that every once in a while, we get a new, energized abortion rights advocate who starts screaming about how every pro-lifer is a “terrorist.” They usually also add how the Catholic Church has murdered more people than any other religion in the world, but I don’t have the time or energy to research what the Catholic Church has done over the centuries so I don’t opine on those comments. However, I do have some experience in the world of abortion, so I would like to chat a little about whether or not all pro-lifers are “terrorists.”
I guess the first thing one needs to do is define “terrorist.” In my head, the true terrorists are, of course, the folks who fly crowded airplanes into buildings, who blow themselves up in crowded market squares and who plot the death of innocent civilians or government workers. You know who I am talking about: Bin Laden, Timothy McVeigh, and that nut ball up in Norway who recently killed all of those kids. Then there are the Micheal Griffins, James Kopps and Paul Hills of the world. True terrorists, they.
But then, way on the other end of the spectrum, are those pro-lifers who just sit in their house, avoiding all demonstrations and who rarely opine about their position on the abortion issue. They might pray at home or in church for an end in abortion and send some money to their local pro-life organization, but I have a very tough time calling them “terrorists” and I suspect that most pro-choicers would also be reluctant to affix that label to them.
Where I get stuck is when I think of those folks who go to their local abortion clinic on a regular basis and publicly demonstrate. Are they “terrorists?” Let’s talk about their motivations and their actions.
I guess your average protestorgoes to the clinic in the hopes of stopping an abortion, whether it is by engaging in prayer (don’t even ask me how that would work) or, if they chance, talking one on one with the women as they approach the
abortion facility. Once they identify the woman, they might start screaming at them. Some even resort to the use of a bullhorn. Now, a woman who has made an appointment for an abortion usually is warned by clinic staff that there may be protestors outside so when she sees the anti-abortion folks out front, she knows they smell blood. Then scream at her that she is “killing your baby!” They may make a crying baby sound and shriek “Mommy, don’t let them pull my legs off!” Sometimes it is just a simple “Murderer!” The woman may have been warned, she may have seen demonstrations on television, but she is rarely prepared for this scene. And, to top it off, she doesn’t want to be at the clinic in the first place.
Over the years, I have seen this scenario played out in the front of many clinics. The unique perspective that I have, however, is that on a number of occasions, I have walked with the women passed the protestors into the actual clinic. Some gave me permission to accompany them through the entire abortion process. I have seen (and the protestors haven’t) how upset the women are when they sign in, whose blood pressure has risen because they are so angry at these strangers outside the clinic who don’t know her or anything about her personal situation. I’ve seen women who have already shed a few tears as she contemplated her decision shed even more tears in the waiting room. And then, after all of the theatrics outside, I’ve then seen them have their abortion.
Not all pro-lifers are terrorists. That’s a silly statement. But I would conclude that to the women who walked the anti-abortion gauntlet, who could feel the hatred, who heard the screaming, who would prefer to be just with alone with their loved ones – I would say that those particular women were indeed “terrorized.”

As a ProLife Catholic, I am ashamed at other ProLifers like the one above with the weird name about a vineyard. I am especially ashamed at the misguided self proclaimed Catholics, like the murderer loving, flag participant burning Dunkle.
Your crudeness, lack of humility, and behaving unlike Jesus, your incapacity to attempt to emulate Jesus’s tireless good works and those of our blessed Lord fouls the foundation of true Christianity. Those of us who are ProLife and work very hard to save children dying of poverty and starvation in our own neighborhoods are constantly harmed not by people who are ProChoice. Pro Choice people are always willing to help the children, in works, and donation of funds. Look at the children, needing food and education right in your own community and help them. Stop threatening, intimidating, and harassing women. I am deeply saddened and troubled by the seemingly growing population of false Pro Lifers, as Jesus would be.

Justice, the term “pro-life” has been so successfully taken over by the dysfunctional self-help movement that you should use the term “truly pro-life” when you talk about people who care FOR human life rather than merely ABOUT it, as they do. And when referring to them, you should use the term “SO-CALLED pro-lifers” or (to be more diplomatic) “SELF-PROCLAIMED pro-lifers” to make people aware that the movement is so dysfunctional it is actually harmful to its members. I suggest you check out the concept of aborticentrism to get a better view of their dark side.

The point that I am trying to make here is that, she is not there because she is selfish or because she wants to kill that baby but because I mistake happened and it was not planned, most of us are not planned but accepted. If the women does not feel comfortable with having that baby right now or cannot afford it why should she put herself through all that?

For someone who falsely claimed to have escaped the Holocaust and who presented a quote he falsely claimed to have found in Mein Kampf, a certain elderly man who posts here does not process information well enough to sustain the veracity of his third claim, that he used to be a teacher.
About two of my observations of so-called “pro-lifers” he says “The first is that people like me who oppose that are dysfunctional.” I do not say that; I say their movement is a dysfunctional self-help movement, which is quite a different thing.
Like alcoholics, they can function sufficiently well to pass in society as normal people. When dealing with the notion of abortion, they, like alcoholics, have no power over their reaction. That’s quite a different thing.
The elderly gentleman also says, “The second is that people like me who oppose that must therefore agree to nurture through college each of the more than a million who would continue to live if we were successful.” I do not say that; I ask why they won’t. Their replies are almost 100% supportive of my observation that they are so blindered by their hatred and fear of abortion that they cannot care for human life.
They only care about abortion. If it were hidden away, like child abuse, they wouldn’t think about it at all. It’s only that their knowledge of its existence disturbs their sense of well-being.
For one who claims to have taught English, he has not yet written anything resembling even a 10th-grade level exposition of his stand. To paraphrase Joe Biden, his core belief is noun-verb-torture, noun-verb-killer, noun-verb-her. I think this says a lot about the emotional rather than spiritual or ethical basis of his opposition to abortion.

Quite entertaining, Justice! Thanks to the ability to detect pregnancy within 8 days of conception, doctors and scientists have known for a couple of decades that 30% of all conceptions are aborted by God so promptly that the woman mistakes the abortion for a delayed or missed period.
This means of course that a lot of so-called “pro-life” women have probably had an abortion by Someone who disapproves of their stand…

What I find most offensive and foul of all of this…is that you would put someone’s private contact information up. If she gets hurt due to your posting her information, you could be held partially liable. I hope there is an administrator who will see that and remove it. You are endangering her life and her family’s life because of your own hatred. Voicing your opinion and working in a safe manner tawards your gaol is fine, but to put someones home address and phone number up is just disgraceful.

Wow, as I am reading this I am truly amazed at the double standard and lack of common social decency. Way back Kate posted someone’s personal phone number. I called her on it. She lashed out at me and no one came to the defense of this person who’s personal info was posted and No one demanded that it be removed. Kate, in response to me calling her out, posted her own personal info to show that she didn’t care after I asked her how she thought it would feel. Later I posted a comment that included the same (minus some details) information that Kate had posted about herself (to make a point about her posing as a reverend). In turn she posted my personal info, my church affiliation,my husbands name, a link to a personal family website, and pictures of me. Rogelio even looked at the pictures and made a comment about them but now for some reason he can’t remember Kate ever crossing that line.. NOT ONE person spoke up to tell Kate that this was inappropriate but rather her comment got support from other pro-choicers (by way of votes and comments) and there was even a discussion about my affiliations. This is not to mention the many other times that Kate has done this to others. Then all of a sudden when someone posts Kate’s info everyone gets defensive of her and declares what a low ball tactic that was. Well, here’s the thing……….it’s low ball to do it to pro-lifers too. The same social rules apply to both sides in this type of forum. Families are off limits and any personal information is off limits unless the person posts it themselves as Kate did. Kate apologized and I accept that apology and hopefully there will be no more of that nonsense. But I do wonder why no one came to declare the indecency of this when the same thing was done by Kate herself to pro-lifers? Why was Kate not called out on it? Why the fallout only after her info was posted? I don’t get it? Are you guys really that hypocritical? I really appreciate Pat for taking the crap down. Pat I know that went against your general ideals of freedom of speech but it was necessary in this situation. I think everyone would agree with me on that one. It was the right move. So thanks.

as i recall, that was someone else that posted that stuff about you, not kate.
and i was rather explicit that my concern was someone posting her HOME PHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS.
there is quite a difference between someone posting the affiliation you have with your little church and photos of you crossdressing in apparel that is overly tight and revealing, and someone posting her home phone and address along with an incitement to create chaos and harm for her at those contact points.
kate has never crossed that point with others, and given that she is the only one who has offered any form of apology for past behavior, i think it would be prudent to refrain from babbling about her past behavior.

I am confused. Didn’t Kate post her own personal information, professional title, military service, employer, employer’s business, her own first and last name, e-mail and phone number? Or was that somebody violating her privacy?
If she did it herself, then there are perhaps some mitigating circumstances for disclosing others’ information (she’d be following the Golden Rule, treating others as she wishes to be treated). I suppose that the message from this is: Don’t mess with a veteran.

Got this wrong as usual, Chuck. Kate’s intention in publicizing personal information about us prolifers was to hurt us. Here she’s not attempting to hurt herself! Why don’t we go to the source and ask kate if she is as innocent as you believe her to be regarding posting our names, addresses, phone #’s, churches pro-lifer’s attend, personal information regarding our children and families, as well as posting a video ON THIS BLOG of a private family gathering without the person’s permission to do so. Kate’s silence has been deafening so far. Rog, assuming k.r. doesn’t respond, all you have to do is go back to the post “Don’t Let the Advertising Fool You” to see just a smidge of a sampling of her antics. they have made false claims that people whose attention i drew to this dilemma are kate, when in reality, they are individuals of various backgrounds who understand that the vile act that “worker” committed has no justification.

Oh, goodness. You really got me. But the problem here is that I did not post any information that directly links to any person’s home address. Listing a city is not exactly a threat, now is it?. And the phone number is listed online, in church bulletins, in the information she hands out to patients.
As I see it, you don’t like people to know how you behave, how you treat women and their companions.
You don’t want people to know that you’ve stalked women you knew by following her to work, by telling lies to store employees about escorts, by stalking escorts in stores, by threatening escorts with home protests.

I wrote recently that one of primary tactics of a terrorist is to use dread as a means to bypass the rationale brain and as a means to encourage people to believe their implausible claims. What we’re witnessing on this blog and what I witness outside an abortion clinic are antichoicers drunk with their imaginary show of strength. There are several concerning consequences with this sense of strength. First, it has the potential to make people feel falsely emboldened by shows of force – it can turn the abortion war into demonic sporting events. Witness John Dunkle claiming on this blog that antiabortion work is a war. Witness other antichoicers who proselytize about their goodness while framing those who are not “one of us” as their enemies. They routinely lie to police about the veracity of events; publicly expose personal information of doctors, staff and volunteers, mail letters to neighbors about doctors and staff, and protest outside doctors’ and directors’ homes; use public forums to tell bald-faced lies to store clerks or passing pedestrians about volunteers being baby killers. While much of the antiabortion behaviors more closely resembles acts from the circus of the absurd, some are clearly intended to terrorize, clearly fueled by evil intentions and clearly deliberate attacks on those with whom they differ (which is just about the majority population).
Secondly, especially in the context of American politics, displays of terrorism – whether manifested in war or war rhetoric– are seen as noble and (in an especially surreal irony) moral. These antichoicers see their cause as one that is framed aroudn God, family and morality. Reframed for the abortion conflict, the antiabortion industry becomes synonymous with the blunt force of ignorance, God-intoxicated, blood-drenched, inept, miserable human beings who offer nothing but terror when they invade a woman’s personal space, when they maliciously bully her and her companions, and when they harm her and her companions with medical misinformation, psychological propaganda, and religious rants and hell fire condemnations. But it’s little wonder when you consider the deplorable cruelty of their deity of choice. Check out this lovely little passage from Deuteronomy (32:23-25)?: “I will spend mine arrows upon them . . . The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.”
Then there is this lovely bit of divinely inspired baby killing and faith-based rape from Isaiah (13:9, 15-18): “Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger . . . Every one that is found shall be thrust through . . . Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes . . . and their wives ravished. Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them. . . . [T]hey shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.”
What more could be expected when you believe the above passages or any other passages in their holy guidebook. Antichoicers often defend their arguments by pointing to the fact that a lot of people share the same perceptions. This is a reasonable point. But, the fact that a lot of people believe something is not necessarily a sign that it’s true; it’s just a sign that it’s been effectively marketed.

I wrote recently that one of primary tactics of a terrorist is to use dread as a means to bypass the rationale brain and as a means to encourage people to believe their implausible claims. What we’re witnessing on this blog and what I witness outside an abortion clinic are antichoicers drunk with their imaginary show of strength. There are several concerning consequences with this sense of strength. First, it has the potential to make people feel falsely emboldened by shows of force – it can turn the abortion war into demonic sporting events. Witness John Dunkle claiming on this blog that antiabortion work is a war. Witness other antichoicers who proselytize about their goodness while framing those who are not “one of us” as their enemies. They routinely lie to police about the veracity of events; publicly expose personal information of doctors, staff and volunteers, mail letters to neighbors about doctors and staff, and protest outside doctors’ and directors’ homes; use public forums to tell bald-faced lies to store clerks or passing pedestrians about volunteers being baby killers. While much of the antiabortion behaviors more closely resemble acts from the circus of the absurd, some are clearly intended to terrorize, clearly fueled by evil intentions and clearly deliberate attacks on those with whom they differ (which is just about the majority population).
Secondly, especially in the context of American politics, displays of terrorism – whether manifested in war or war rhetoric– are seen as noble and (in an especially surreal irony) moral. Reframed for the abortion conflict, the antiabortion industry becomes synonymous with the blunt force of ignorance, God-intoxicated, blood-drenched, inept, miserable human beings who offer nothing but terror when they invade a woman’s personal space, when they maliciously bully her and her companions, and when they harm her and her companions with medical misinformation, psychological propaganda, and religious rants and hell fire condemnations. But it’s little wonder when you consider the deplorable cruelty of their deity of choice. Check out this lovely little passage from Deuteronomy (32:23-25)?: “I will spend mine arrows upon them . . . The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.”
Then there is this lovely bit of divinely inspired baby killing and faith-based rape from Isaiah (13:9, 15-18): “Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger . . . Every one that is found shall be thrust through . . . Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes . . . and their wives ravished. Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them. . . . [T]hey shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.”
What more could be expected when you believe the above passages or any others in their holy guidebook. Antichoicers often defend their arguments by pointing to the fact that a lot of people share the same perceptions. This is a reasonable point. But, the fact that a lot of people believe something is not necessarily a sign that it’s true; it’s just a sign that it’s been effectively marketed.
