So let’s say I get cancer. The “natural” thing would be to let it go, to deteriorate and die a natural death. To get chemo would be a “disorder,” John?

No, cancer is the disorder. It can be attacked, perhaps with surgery. But removing a healthy body part, or body, is barbarism.

  2. From #38, above: “This is, so far, you[r] silliest of all. Someone is not a human being unles someone else cares for her?”

    ****

Well, you refuse to learn anything about feral children, so you can’t even discuss what makes a life human rather than simply humanoid.

The danger of knowing about feral children is that as a movement member, your standing would be imperiled. As Pope put it, “Where ignorance is bliss/ ‘Tis folly to be wise.” if you started thinking about nurturing the children whose birth you insisted upon, you’d eventually come to the point where you’d have to choose between caring for life or continuing to be so-called “pro-life.”

It’s smart of you in the short term to not go there; in the long run, it’s a terrible choice to have made.

I didn’t get past this, Chuck: “so you can’t even discuss what makes a life human rather than simply humanoid.”

Everybody, even the scurviest, rottenest, most vile person, who’s been hated from day 1, is human. There are no such things as humanoids, except in some science fiction writer’s imagination. Now let me read the rest.

“if you started thinking about nurturing the children whose birth you insisted upon” — you too, Chuck, should insist that people be born, reach their first birthdays, reach their twentieth birthdays, and reach their seventy-sixth birthdays if, like me, they’re seventy-five. You might be as selfish as I am and care little about what happens to them afterwards; however, you should insist that they not be murdered.

If I “insist they not be murdered” and walk away from them, to leave them exposed to cruelty, illness, ignorance, starvation and death at an early age from violence or long-suffered disease, who gains?

    Not them.

I do. I have stood foursquare against Death and won. And it hasn’t cost me what it’s costing them. Nor do I have to share my resources with them, doing unto them what I would want others to do unto me to shelter me from those hazards and more.

What does that say about me, that I am more than willing to have them pay a lifelong price for my self-defined victory?

  12. Well, you make it sound as though you realize that when you die you are going to be in judgment before a God who will confront you with the lifelong sufferings of hundreds of children whom you abandoned after you compelled them to be born.

It also seems the reason He will be so harsh toward you is that you compelled them to be born to satisfy your own ego, rather than to help them arrive at an adulthood even more fulfilling than your own.

    Thanks for your answer.

John Dunkle might be one person whose habits we cannot change. He seems to relish the attention Voice of Choice is lavishing upon him.

I have been told, however, that his wife Margaret would like him to find a new pastime. I think we should all give her our sympathy and ask if we can help her to encourage John to find more productive ways to spend his time.

Please call Margaret at home at 610-796-0627.

Sympathize with her in that it must be difficult to be so close to someone involved in such a violent movement.

Encourage her and wish her the best of luck in convincing him to stop harassing women and clinic workers.

    And…

Tell her she will be in your thoughts/prayers and that you hope she has the support system needed to cope with his activities.

Please note that if anyone wanted to visit or write the Dunkels, they live at 214 Meadow Glen Lane Reading, PA 19607 (Note the corrected address).

As soon as things get the least bit difficult, you can call it quits. So, having been warned that he risks some inconvenience to his time (jail), his talent (arguing in court) and his money (lawyer’s fees and fines), is he going to trespass again? No more likely than that he will adopt a child he doesn’t want to raise. . . aborticentrism, period.
